Gender Equality at the Faculty of Geography and Geosciences

As the faculty’s gender equality officers, we actively promote equal opportunities and work towards a reduction of gender-based discrimination. Representing the central equality officers of the Ruhr-University Bochum, we advocate for women as well as trans, inter, and non-binary individuals across all status groups—from students to academic and administrative staff to professors.

Our tasks include participating as advisory members in faculty council meetings, appointment committees, and other faculty committees. We also contribute to drafting faculty equality objectives and provide guidance on decentralized monitoring of their implementation.

Additionally, we offer individual consultations on all matters of equality—confidentially, free of charge, and anonymously if desired. This includes support in cases of discrimination as well as advice on balancing study or work with family responsibilities and related support opportunities. We serve as an initial point of contact and can refer to further advisory services and institutions.

We are also open to suggestions, questions, and ideas, and we look forward to engaging in dialogue!
