Our faculty conducts research projects with a direct focus on equal opportunities. Here you will find an overview of these projects as well as information on their research content and objectives.

Equal Opportunities Research Projects

The project “Geo-Risks in Bochum – a project-based, individualized field trip in the Geosciences Bachelor program on the effects of flooding along the Ruhr at Kemnader Lake” actively contributes to increasing the flexibility of excursion participation. In particular, it is intended to make excursions more accessible to students with employment obligations or caregiving responsibilities. It enables students to independently investigate flood hazards of the Ruhr River using Lake Kemnade as a case study and was first offered as a field exercise in the summer semester of 2025.

Offered as part of the research-based learning project, the course "Engineering Geological Digital Mapping Strategies“ fosters digital and technical skills in geotechnical fieldwork with attention to diversity-sensitive aspects.

The associated colloquium “Digital Pathways in Engineering Geology” was held for the first time in July 2025 and will be offered again in 2026.
